YEESSS!!!

Nothing much about 4th week which is more on discussion with group members for topic 2,3 and 4..N My group members are Farah, Zulhusni, Luqman and Fikri. This is due to the wireless which is not working on that time. So, we cannot do what we suppose to do as planned by Pn.Foziah.Ok, now, I juz want to share with you about part of our discussion last week which is about how the teacher check the understanding of the students.Actually, this subtopic is more on teacher checking the meaning of every words, but I would like to discuss about other ares that related to it...

Now, lets ask ourselves, especially during the SEP,Do we like to ask the pupils this question,"Do you understand class?" and everyone will answer "Yeesss"...They seems to understand what we taught to them, but do they really understand or they just love to replied,"Yesss" eventhough they are not understand?I just remembered an incident about my friend during her practicum whereby when she ask the pupils,"What is your ambition?", then they replied,"Yeess"...So, what is the conclusion from this incident? The pupils just answer "Yeesss" because its very easy to give that kind of answer and its not really show whether they understand or not...But, still lots of teacher love to ask such kind of quite ineffective questions to the pupils....Thus, what is the more effective and suitable questions and strategies that teacher should use to check pupils' understanding??

Actually, teacher can ask several specific questions to check pupils understanding which not just expect the "yeess" answer...Besides, by observing pupils' non verbal communication such as facial expression, body language and gestures, these will also reflect their understanding...For example, if they are frowning, they might feel confused.Teacher should be sensitive with whatever the children do.So, if the pupils show that they are not understand, teacher can repeat or rephrase what he/she have said before or straightly ask which part that they not really understand. These are the more appropriate ways to check their understanding.

I think that's all for now...can't wait to learn more from others discussion on the next class....
